Atomic John
My first game jam entry. Also, my first real game! It's ... not very good.
Designed and developed for the "Pixel Weekend Jam #2" from March 16, 2018 to March 18, 2018. The game was developed using Phaser3. The "art" (if you could call it that) was made in Aseprite. Sound effects were generated with Chiptone by SFB Games (http://sfbgames.com/chiptone/). Music is "Go Lucky" by "chasersgaming" (https://opengameart.org/content/go-lucky). The non-standard color scheme was created by the folks at http://colorbrewer2.org/ (3 classes, qualitative data, colorblind safe, and LCD friendly).
The control scheme is similar to Nuclear Throne:
- WASD or arrow keys move your character
- Left mouse click fires
- C or spacebar swaps color
To destroy enemies, you need to hit them with the same color shot. The goal was to fulfill the theme ("color") while creating a game playable by gamers with decreased ability to see color.
I had much bigger plans but ran out of time. I may do further work on this project in the future.
